If anything I interpreted it as a compliment to those that are attending (and yes, I'm out here too).

Charles, it's interesting that you mentioned the pain you went through over MS-based technology/frameworks/etc. I have a similar view (though not as deep) over Java. When it first came out, I decided to jump from VB to Java because it seemed like it had so much potential. And as a language, it did - I loved that I could finally do things that I could never do in VB without severe pain. But the tools were severely lacking to support developers and the whole EJB thing really soured me on the community.

But at technologists, there's always benefit to learn from what others are doing. So I'm glad to see that you're taking the time to attend a MS event - hopefully you can influence the DLR folks in good ways and they may help you out improving JRuby.Jason Bockhttp://www.jasonbock.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4704664917418794835.post-48358922919509111012008-01-29T13:03:00.000-08:002008-01-29T13:03:00.000-08:00Any place where I can see or download your "J...Any place where I can see or download your "JRuby design internals" presentation? either the one on Lang.NET one or the RubyCong one? The whole premise of the event is that as technologists there is a lot we can learn from other languages and the people who use them. We may all have our personal preferences, but that does not mean we should close our minds to the alternatives. We might just learn something new in the process.jbrinkmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06748227599187805296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4704664917418794835.post-4115888592870930192008-02-11T04:28:00.000-08:002008-02-11T04:28:00.000-08:00Charles,What do you think the advantages of Micros...Charles,
What do you think the advantages of Microsoft's approach are? You're obviously a language lover. It was very interesting seeing you on the msdn channel 9 interview. The guy interviewing you seemed very corporately aligned but I was VERY VERY happy to see the camaraderis and respect you and Wane Kelly had garnered for each other. Thank you for your work. Guys like you make us progress. Thank you. I'm going to be working with others in the Java community to try solving those problems in similar ways.Charles Oliver Nutterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06400331959739924670noreply@blogger.com
